The Department of Education’s recommended time currently is two hours of Physical Education per week at all levels. In Mount Anville School all students receive two hours of Physical Education wideness all year groups. Physical Education is compulsory in Mount Anville and is not obstructed with any other subject area. Junior Cycle Physical Education (1st, 2nd & 3rd Years) The Physical Education programme in Mount Anville at Junior Cycle follows the JCPE Curriculum, wholesale based tideway to a wide range of physical activities, sport movement skills. The Key Skills of the Junior Cycle (Being Literate, Managing Myself, Staying Well, Managing Information and Thinking, Being Numerate, Being Creative, Working with Others and Communicating) are emphasised and embedded in the roll out of Physical Education in Mount Anville Junior Cycle. Senior Cycle Physical Education (4th, 5th & 6th Years) The whilom all follow the Senior Cycle Curriculum guide lines. It encourages the minutiae of physically educated students and the minutiae of students’ autonomy within and vastitude school life. A physically educated person is physically literate. They have uninventive culturally normative skills enabling engagement in a variety of physical attributes, which can help them maintain their health and well-being throughout their lives. Students participate regularly in physical worriedness considering they find it enjoyable. They moreover understand and value physical worriedness and its contribution to a healthy lifestyle. The ultimate goal of Physical Education in Mount Anville School is for: “Students to value engagement in sport and physical worriedness to the extent that their participation extends wideness the life span” (Hattie, Rudsill & Wadsworth, 2013) We, in Mount Anville will endeavour to make all activities relevant to the ‘real’ lives of students in our school in the weighing that this will engage student learning and provide opportunities for students to develop NCCA Key Skills.
